24 hours of reading is completed! Even with all the interruptions of life I still managed to read 789 pages off four books. Feeling beyond accomplished even though I didn’t think it was going to be possible.
In the first half, I managed to complete Purple Orchids and The Neon Lawyer. The neon lawyer wasnt something I was very much interested in, it dragged a lot and the plot was a bit typical. It isn’t a recommended read but if you do manage to snag it for free with the audio then go for it.
Purple Orchids had so many steamy scenes and it kept me very much interested because just when you thought you had it figured out, something else would happen and throw you for a crazy loop. Can you believe it was a romance novel? Yup, my reading a romance novel is beyond rare, like finding a four leaf clover.
Now as the readathon was winding down, I did snag in about 3 hours of sleep that I needed oh so badly. I did wake up and began to read Good as Gone by Amy Gentry which started off really good and I am hoping to continue reading it. Who doesn’t like a good kidnapping, survival, thriller book?
Then, I began listening to The Color Of Secrets which is a world war 2 novel and anything based in that era always gets my attention so that one I managed to read close to half of it.
Out of all the books I read during the readathon Purple Orchids was my favorite. I am shocked that I enjoyed a romance novel because I tend to steer clear of those but it was nice to step out of my comfort zone which is what I had intended to do for this readathon.
I am so excited for the next one in October and even joined another group that holds monthly readathons! I think I have rediscovered my inner bookworm.
Which book did you enjoy reading during the readathon? If you didn’t participate, will you consider joining the dewey’s 24 hour readathon in october?
Today is the 24 hour readathon. I started it with an audio book as I laid in bed still achy and sore from the day before. Waking up at 8 am is the hardest especially on painful weeks but listening to The neon Lawyer by victor methos helped kick things off. It was free with Amazon prime membership which is always a plus and life saver for me.
While I prepped everything in my morning routine I continued to listen to this book. I even listened as I prepped for dinner and I think I will continue this habit of listening to books while doing chores and cooking so I can get more books under my belt. Especially trying to met my reading goal on Goodreads.
It felt so good to relax and enjoy reading without flipping threw netflix as I always do when I am stuck home during mister officer’s long days.
The book I did manage to engulf myself into reading is Purple orchids. Oh my lord! I give it 5 stars, that’s how awesome it was, from the main character Gavin to the wonderful story plot of first love etc. This book isn’t a typical book I would have pawed threw this quickly but I did and I have zero regretts about it being the first book I read during the readathon.
There is still about 12 more hours to go and I am utterly excited to see what other books I have in my kindle to emerse myself into and actually feel words and descriptions because to me thats the valuable part of books and actually visualize it all which Purple Orchids hit it dead on. I always enjoyed reading so much and a big part of me has shyed away from it because being a mom eats up so much of my time (I don’t mind but it feels great to read just for myself).
I have no regrets in taking on this 24 hour readathon headon. I hope I still feel this once its over. Wish me luck!
Read on! And did you know about Dewey’s 24 hour readathon prior to this post?

Go follow @elleluna on instagram. She created this movement and I am joining so I can get more creative with what I do.
I choose the black out poetry project because I tend to abandon things after a few days and sharing it on here will force me to blog! I am just a big ball of procrastination and forgetfullness.
Here is the last black out poetry I worked on today and I will remind myself to only do one a day to pace myself and also not feel as overwhelmed so if I miss a day, I can easily catch up.
Entry and exit
Hope you all gained a little inspiration and let me know of you will join me in this creatove endeavor.
Stay blessed, Vanessa.
As I was surfing threw the vast creative world that is youtube, i learned about black out poetry.
I have seen many photos via tumblr and wondered what it was and now I can say that I really enjoy this process especially on days that i simply can not place words together.
This creative outlet is unlike anything I have come across of and actually feels soothing, its the best way I can describe it to be for me anyways.
Here is the first one I managed to create.
I placed washi tape on the corners of the pages I did create. Since this book is a thriller, it will be interesting to see all the finished poems.
Here’s the cover of the book:
I will revamp the cover to suit me better and the poems I end up creating from it.
If you would like to see more photos of the poetry I wind up creating, please visit my tumblr.
I had cut out a few things that stuck out to me from a magazine and had been wanting to make a vision board/inspiration pages in my bullet journal for awhile. I didn’t want to make a big typical one on a poster board and hang it up etc. Like most I have seen. Putting it in my bullet journal that I am constantly in and flipping threw seemed more and more like a good idea.
I enjoyes the process so much and it didn’t take long to place it all together.
What is something you have done to be creative in your bullet journal?
Here is an update to my planning system. Life with four kids is chaotic at times, so having a planner to manage everything works wonders especially since I took up blogging and creating videos on youtube. Also, I am able to schedule in some twitch streams and know when I can and cannot stream.
The purse being loaded with toddler things contains my franklin covey planner that I take with me. You can watch the video to me setting it up HERE. I love that I can open it up during groceries or other runs to appointments and such that it will be pretty to look at and also works great for on the go.
The happy planner classic undated is where I will do challenge and fun videos with as well as memory keep in it. This planner stays home.
The erin condren is to decorate nicely for videos on my yotube channel which is fun and pretty and will be doing plan as I go videos on there so I can show every part of the process I do in planning for our day to day. This planner also stays home.
My bullet journal will be my travel companion becausw I jot lists, to dos, events, doodles and everything in that gem. I will forever be devoted to my bullet journal! I feel like I donot need to be all prettt with stickers and taking my time with it since I have the eclp and hp to guide me in the monthly and weekly department. BUT the bullet journal is my everything, my life in one place. The gaming logs, shows, memories, and so much more is in here that I cannot part with this system.
How many system do I really need? Simply put, I need them all. Planning has been my outlet and it also has helped me a lot on seeing everything I do and we do as a family.
Whats your go to planning system?
